Avance Care Chooses Certinal to Eliminate Paper-Based Patient Document Signing Across Its Care Network
Certinal's seamless Epic integration digitizes patient document signing across Avance Care's care network
Wilmington, Delaware – June 03, 2026 — We are proud to announce that Avance Care, one of the largest networks of independent primary care practices in North Carolina, has selected Certinal to digitize and streamline its patient document signing workflows, replacing manual, paper-based processes with compliant, digital E-Signatures across its care network.
With locations across Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, and Wilmington, Avance Care provides primary care, acute care, pediatrics, behavioral health, and specialty services including psychiatry, neurology, nutrition, and allergy care.
Avance Care will deploy Certinal across its network through a native SMART on FHIR integration that connects Epic and Certinal eSign using Certinal’s flexible API. The integration embeds Certinal directly inside Epic, allowing providers to initiate document signing with a single click without leaving their clinical workflow. Providers can self-sign single or multiple documents in bulk, while Medical Assistants can initiate an assisted-signing journey to prepare documents ahead of provider review. Signed documents are automatically filed back into Epic using HL7 interface standards, eliminating the print-sign-scan cycle that previously handled thousands of inbound documents weekly.
Beyond the Epic integration, Certinal brings enterprise-grade security and governance capabilities to the network, including SSO and two-factor authentication for provider access control, per-facility branding and document confidentiality for operational governance across multiple practice locations, GxP-ready workflows for regulated clinical and research documentation, and a full signature standards stack spanning SES, AES, and QES to meet the compliance requirements of clinical and administrative signing scenarios.
Powered by Certinal’s HIPAA-compliant platform and zero-custom-development Epic integration, this engagement will enable faster physician document turnaround, a fully digital audit trail on every signed document, and a streamlined signing workflow across Avance Care’s network, with no disruption to existing clinical operations.
